Class Description
This class will explore neighborhoods on Chicago’s Northwest Side through a series of readings and walking tours. We will study the history of each neighborhood's initial settlement and its changing population and popularity in the years since. We will examine the built environment as well as each community's distinctive local traditions, from ethnic foods to education to athletic and cultural events. Participants should be prepared to walk up to a mile over the course of each class.

In some cases, a seminar may be offered with fewer than seven registrations at the option of the instructor.
