The class was good! The instructor was friendly and did a demo in the beginning, then walked around and helped us individually once we got started on the wheels. The studio is a bit cramp and messy, but fine for the price of this. Plus, you get to keep a piece after they fire it/glaze it for you. In terms of COVID safety, everyone wore masks and they take your temperature at the door and the wheels are "kinda" spread out with clear panels between people sitting in front of each other. I had wish there were like 2-3 less people just because the space is kinda narrow and when cleaning up, you do have to be right next to each other since there's only one sink. But if you're fine with that, then def take it as a beginner class to get your feet wet!

The class was enjoyable. Two things I wish were different was I specifically took this class because in the comments someone mentioned they had their class outside due to COVID, but my class was held inside. I would have liked to know this ahead of time. The other thing was a few of us got lost after the 20 min demonstration so would have liked to see steps on the wall or have us all do it together step by step.

I had the absolute best time in this class. I bought it as a sort of bonding experience and gift for my younger sister who just graduated college. She had an incredible time and so did I. The instructor was friendly, encouraged socialization, and really took his time with each student to make sure they were making the progress they wanted. I came to this class from a printmaking background, so I had to work harder to shift my approach to get the desired results I wanted. Dominic worked extra hard with me to make that connection in my brain and my hands so I could learn new skills. He was also extra careful to understand what each student was comfortable with, something I really appreciate as a former educator. I’m looking forward to taking one of their 8 week classes!

The class was great! Dom, the teacher was great too. It was the right amount of hands on teaching to let you get a feel for the process, but also allow you to walk away wit something if you didn’t take to it as much as you'd hoped. I would highly recommend the class to anyone looking to give pottery a whirl... there’s a pottery pun. The end.

I bought this class as a gift for my dad for Christmas from my sister and I. We had an absolute blast and are thinking about taking some of our other family members for a round 2! Dominick was talented, knowledgable, and made the class enjoyable for all! The perfect activity for a winter Saturday. I definitely don't want to give less than 5 stars, but I do have some suggestions: - 2 hours might seem like a long time but it flew by, especially with prep and clean up (I was thankful that Dominick extended our class time to accommodate for some traffic related delays). I think the class could probably be 3 hours to allow for more time actually on the wheel. With all of the help necessary for mess ups to be remedied, teaching, set/up clean up... 3 hours would allow for more creative working time. - I also think it might be helpful for a teacher's assistant to facilitate quicker restarts after mess ups. A lot of us were not succeeding in our first few attempts and required assistance in removing used clay and centering new clay etc. We often spent time waiting for Dominick to come back around after helping the rest of the class. Further, the key to success (as we all found out) was to just STOP tweaking, this meant that we had to stop and wait to have our piece removed and a new piece of clay centered before we could begin working again... this led to more idle time. A teacher's assistant might have helped to eliminate some of this idle time that could have been better spent. -Dominick is a pottery master and did an incredible job fixing up even the seemingly irredeemable pieces. However, that meant that some of the pieces I made became his instead of my own. If you're like me and want to feel proud of what you did yourself rather than someone else perfecting just for looks, ask Dominick to leave your piece as is!! He did that for me upon request. Despite the little imperfections, I like the pieces that were all my own better (though some may feel otherwise). Maybe instead of automatically fixing, Dominick could ask the person first or simply just provide feedback/instruction on how to fix themselves. I realize that this goes against the interest of time, but it's just a thought. If you're interested in pottery at all, I highly recommend this class as an introduction. I look forward myself to returning!

Question from Natalie C.
Hello, What type of pieces will be made during the class? Could we make serving plates for example? Also, how many pieces per couple we get to take home?
Answer from Brenda L. CourseHorse StaffCourseHorse Staff
Hi Natalie! You will create little bowls and/or tumblers with the assistance of the expert instructors. Wheel throwing is technical and requires practice and time before being able to throw a set of plates or large vases. In this 2 hours initiation class, you will make 2-4 small items. The firing and glazing of One are included with the cost of the class. Additional pieces can be kept for an $10/fee/piece. You will be emailed 3 weeks after the class to invite you to come to pick up your work.

Question from Any
Hello, what is the total price if I want to make two coffee mugs? Will it be three weeks from start to pick-up?
Answer from Brenda L. CourseHorse StaffCourseHorse Staff
Hi there! Mugs require an additional step of pulling and attaching a handle, which the instructor will not be going over in the workshop. A private class may be a better option for this project since you will be able to have more individualized time and attention from the instructor. Hope this helps!
