The main objective of this workshop is to model the clay directly with our hands, without machinery or tools in order to communicate directly with the clay and transmit our feelings. With the “launch” technique, Alberto Bustos will make slabs and filaments of different kinds as well as textured slabs. In addition, he will share the creation of stone textures using pigmented “cookies” and the application of colored pigments and glaze (powder and liquid) to wet clay.
Students will have time to experiment with all the demonstrated techniques and apply them to their sculptural or functional work. Alberto Bustos wants to encourage participants to the workshop to tell stories of hope through their creation and find freedom through improvisation, without obsession with technique.
This hand on workshop is opened to all level.
Choplet studio will provide the specific material needed for this workshop; including 3 mason stains color, 10 lbs of black stoneware and 10lbs of white stoneware.
