Description

What you'll learn in this woodworking class:

Join Master Craftsman Glen Guarino for an introduction to woodturning on our newly added midi lathes. Students will learn basic woodturning techniques, including safe speeds for various object sizes, mounting your work, making adjustments, choosing the right type of wood, how to keep lathe tools sharp, and much more. By the end of the workshop, students will turn their very own self-turned bowl on the lathe. Two people maximum for this class means lots of attention!

Note:

  • This workshop certifies members to use the lathe during open studio.
  • Included with your purchase is an additional 3 hours of independent lathe practice to be used within 30 days of your lesson.
  • All materials are included, however, we do not provide dust masks; we strongly encourage students to bring dust masks to class.

Glenn was fantastic. He was patient, but most of all, superbly knowledgeable. He taught us more than just the basics. We used a wide variety of gouges, chisels and scrapers. My bowl came out beautiful!

This class was great. I have absolutely no training and no experience working with my hands. Glen was patient, skilled and the perfect person to teach someone like me.

Instructor Glenn was great - patient and extremely knowledgeable. Explained everything as we went along, and answered all questions. Showed me how to do each step, let me try (mistakes and all) and gently suggested corrections and improvements.

It was what I needed. I learned everything I knew from the internet and this class helped me to unlearn some bad habits. It is for beginners, but it’s also for people like me who have tried it before and need some support and have a lot of questions. Great instructor who was patient and helpful.
