Ginny Puskar

Teaches at south avenue arts

Retiring after 21 years of service from Honeywell as a benefits analyst gave Ginny the freedom to pursue her childhood passion of art. After drawing and painting for 25 years as a hobby, she studied with Charles Reed, Alvaro Castanet and Skip Lawrence and then began professionally showing her work and teaching watercolor, acrylic and oil painting.

Ginny strives for dynamic realism in a loose painterly fashion in her watercolor and acrylic paintings. She tries to capture the mood and atmosphere of a scene. She especially enjoys painting gradual changes in color and shadows as light falls on an object. Her goal in all her paintings is to tell a story through the eyes of the viewer.

If not painting in her studio, Ginny can be found combing antique shops and estate sales for interesting still life objects. Photos of beautiful flowers and greenery in nearby gardens will make entry into her watercolor paintings. "Creating art is about taking the viewer to another place in time".

Ginny enjoys membership in many art clubs and organizations and is currently on the executive board of the Westfield Art Association. "Sharing painting time and ideas with other artists is just plain fun". Her work can be viewed and purchased in juried and group shows throughout the NY and NJ area.
