Jene S.

Teaches at The Fashion Class

Originally from Montana, Jene has been passionate and deeply devoted to all things artistic for as long as she can remember. She has experience in painting, sketching, sculpture, beading jewelry, knitting, violin, and of course, making clothing. In 2009, she was a finalist in Seattle Fashion Week’s student design competition and was the only finalist still in high school. She studied bespoke tailoring in London and earned an NVQ3 while doing internships at House of Holland and Henry Poole on Savile Row. This was followed by work from the famous London-based couturier to the royal family Bruce Oldfield, where she worked with the head seamstress doing everything from intricate embroidery to making bridal veils from scratch to helping the elite clientele. Working between London and NY, she also worked alongside Vita Gottlieb as studio assistant, where she helped in the entire garment creation process from making initial patterns to finishing pieces shown at London Fashion Week. She has worked at London Fashion Week many times and moved to New York City in 2011 to pursue a career in making custom clothing and is now taking classes in haute couture and ladies’ tailoring at FIT.
