Students will learn Kumihimo technique, a card braiding technique traditionally from Japan that means 'gathered threads.' The Samurai once used kumihimo as laces for their armor. Kumihimo is made by interlacing reels of yarn such as cotton, silk, ribbon, cord or even scraps of torn fabric.
We'll create lengths of decorative braids that can become unique bracelets or key chain decorations.
No prior experience is necessary.
Materials + Equipment
Participating students will be responsible for having these materials available to them.

Our classes are designed to focus on a learned skill rather than a final product. At TAC, our mission is to provide skills and knowledge for a lifetime!
This course is available for "remote" learning and will be available to anyone with access to an internet device with a microphone (this includes most models of computers, tablets). Classes will take place with a "Live" instructor at the date/times listed below.
Upon registration, the instructor will send along additional information about how to log-on and participate in the class.
For Adult Student Cancellations: Please double check your calendar before signing up for a class! Our small team works very hard throughout the year to schedule each class and coordinate with our students. When you register for a spot in one of our classes, you are reserving a seat and committing to join us for that date and time. If for some reason you need to cancel a class you’ve signed up for, please note the following policies:
At least one month before class: Students may receive full refund or credit to a future class at TAC, minus a $25 processing fee for Morning/Evening Series, Weekend Intensive, One Day Classes and 4-Week Classes, and a $10 processing fee for After Workshops.
Less than one month before class: Students may receive credit only to a future class at TAC, minus a $25 processing fee for Morning/Evening Series, Weekend Intensive, and 4-Week Classes, One Day Classes and a $10 processing fee for After Workshops. We are unable to offer refunds with less than one month notice.
All requests for refunds or class credits must be made in writing via email to [email protected]. In addition to the timing guidelines above, we of course appreciate as much notice as possible when making any adjustments to registrations.
Coursehorse students will need to contact Coursehorse directly about cancellations or refunds. TAC cancellation policy will apply.
All classes, workshops, special events, and gift certificates are non-transferable. No refunds will be given on Gift Certificates. Gift Certificates are valid for (1) one year from the date of purchase.
CLASS MAKE-UP POLICY
Classes do not include individual Make Up sessions -- though you may be able to schedule a private lesson with your instructor based on their availability. We are unable to pro-rate classes or refund students who cannot to make it to class. If you have to miss a class, you are responsible for catching up during Open Studio time.
In any event where a student wants to cancel their enrollment and is eligible for a full refund, a 5% processing fee will be deducted from the refund amount.
