What you'll learn in this on location photography class:

Becoming successful as a wildlife photographer requires practice and time in the field. Join Emily Carter Mitchell in a community park near Joppa, Maryland that has an abundance of cooperative wildlife.

On a paved walkway you’ll have the opportunity to photograph a variety of bird species including Tufted titmouse, Carolina chickadee, Northern Cardinals and more. Both Eastern gray squirrels and Black squirrels will run up to you asking for a peanut, which you’ll happily offer from your goody bag that is provided.

Learn how to study the landscape and patiently wait for your subject to land on a desirable perch to capture those beautiful wildlife images you’ve been hoping for.

    Topics Include:

    • Technical aspects in wildlife photography.
    • Tips and practice on how to quickly capture wildlife in motion.
    • Field behavior when approaching wildlife.
    • Understanding of how light affects your subject.
    • Tips on discovering natural areas for wildlife photography.

    Recommended Equipment:

    • Digital camera with a telephoto lens. (150mm – 600mm focal range).
    • Tripod for heavier lenses.

COVID Safety Practices: Please bring a mask and wear it anytime we are gathered close together or when the instructor is working with you. When we are spread out you can remove your mask if you’d like.
