Discover the fundamentals of sewing through hands-on instruction and practical demonstrations of essential tools, basic techniques, and pattern selection. These classes are designed specifically for students new to sewing. Small class sizes ensure you receive personalized attention and close interaction with your experienced instructor. You do not need to own a sewing machine to participate. Come prepared to have fun, build genuine sewing skills, and leave with two completed projects you have created yourself.
Important Note: This course teaches comprehensive sewing skills and techniques. It is not a basic machine training class focused on the functions of a specific machine you have purchased.
Class size is intentionally limited to maximize the quality of instruction and individual support from your instructor. We encourage early enrollment to secure your spot.
You must purchase or bring your own supplies for use during this course, as shared materials are not provided.
Please arrive before class begins to collect your fabric, pattern, and thread.

Materials You Will Need
- Measuring tape and 6-inch sewing gauge with sliding marker
- 6 to 8-inch fabric scissors that have never been used to cut paper
- Separate scissors for cutting paper
- Small thread snips or thread cutter
- Apron pattern (View D), D rings, fabric, and 100-weight thread to coordinate with fabric; all purchased from Linda Z's
- Best Press spray starch or pressing solution
- Straight pins with glass or flower head design preferred
- Machine needles in size 80
- Seam ripper or seam fix tool
- Chalk, Frixion pen, or disappearing ink fabric marker
- Pen and paper for notes
- Wonder clips for holding fabric
- Sewing machine, available from Linda Z's for use in classes 2 and 3 if needed
Fabric Requirements for Projects
- Apron (View D): 1 yard of main fabric and one-half yard of contrasting color fabric
- Pillowcase: 1 yard of main fabric and one-third yard of contrasting band fabric
