Reviews for Beginner Sewing Classes in Los Angeles

Beginner Sewing Classes in Los Angeles are rated 4.6 stars based on 173 verified reviews from actual CourseHorse.com purchasers.

  • Excellent.
  • It was a great class! The instructor Ms. MELISSA is amazing! Loved the class, I am glad I took it.♡
  • Great comfortable, easy to follow class. I learned a lot and I made a couple friends in the process
  • The expectations were set from day one, which I greatly appreciated. The instructor was consistently engaging, and weekly updated or advised the students on next courses they could take at LACC. The class atmosphere was welcoming, students supported each other as well. I can’t wait to take another course at LACC! Thank you
  • Comfortable set-up, instructor was very informative and hands-on. I learned a lot as a result and signed up for the next course.
  • I enjoyed the 5 class session - Hemming at LA City College (LACC). Our instructor Jenine taught different kinds of Hems from standard hem to blind hem, narrow hem, coverstich hem, and jeans hem. The ability to do these Hems are practical skills, which can come in handy when altering new clothes for yourself and family members. It gives you the ability to do hems for free which would cost about $ 85 at the Alteration shop. I plan to take a couple more sewing courses at LACC such as Pattern Making, and Upcycling: The Jeans Tote - on reusing old clothes for new life. I highly recommend taking sewing classes at LACC.
  • An amazing and motivating class. Our instructor was patient, efficient, and supportive. Can’t wait for Level 2!
  • I recommend to prospective learner enrolling in Sewing Made Easy, Level 2 at Los Angeles City College. Our Instructor Melissa, showed the tips, steps to use a Sewing Pattern and improved my understanding of how to use it and gave me an understanding of clothing construction. Because of this class, I was able to sew five pairs of pajamas pants of varying sizes and gave it to my family as Christmas gifts.
  • Great. The teacher is very knowledgeable and patient. I learned so much. It was also a very fun class.
  • I highly recommend this "Beginners class To Sewing, Level 1" to someone who wants to learn how to sew at an Intro level. My Instructor - Melissa was very detailed in teaching the basics, and enforces it with hands-on learning with performance in your own sewing machine. I'm looking forward to the sequel of this class, "Beginners class To Sewing, Level 2" and Level 3.
  • the Instructor Vanessa great skills teaching easy to follow and easy to learn. I do recommended this class and the instructor thank you .
  • melissa is an amazing instructor and is very patient with everyone!
  • so easy and convenient! The class was great!
  • Overall I thought the workshop was fun and helpful. I’ve never used a sewing machine so I was worried I was going to have difficulties with the machine, but because they give you a breakdown for using the machine, it was so helpful. I was able to do my own projects after this workshop so I’m glad I tried this class. I do wish they had better prints for the bags but it’s not a big deal.
  • I loved it! Sofia was a wonderful teacher! I will definitely go to her for Sewing 2! Sofia was so patient with everyone! The machines worked great. That class size was perfect. Highly recommend.
  • Level 1 was great!
  • Is great ?
  • Highly recommend! Perfect date activity!
  • What an amazing beginner class! Scarlet was so patient with all my questions and a great teacher! Clear, concise and a joy. I had zero experience with a sewing machine and by the end I felt so comfortable with the machinery.
  • The Teacher was great and we came away with. Tote bag we made in just a couple of hours. I learned how to thread the machine and Bobbin and basic construction skills. Really great
  • Absolutely loved the class! The instructor, Scarlet, was very efficient and knowledgeable. I was very happy with my finished project! Thank you.
  • Great class! Had fun and learned so much!!! Signed up for more classes after. Worth it for the knowledge they have!
  • My instructor was super knowledgeable and creative. We had a great group and I found a community. I was able to foster relationships with the women in my group who offered a diversity of ages and perspectives. I would highly recommend anyone trying this!
  • I walked into class clueless about my sewing machine and left confident and knowledgeable about the setup and basic techniques. The instructors are helpful and patient with students as we navigate our first project. Not only that, but everyone gets to take their project home. It was a wonderful first experience.
  • The class was actually super informative. Learned a lot. It was my first sewing class ever and loved it. Both teachers were patient and willing to help and made sure we understood everything . Definitely willl be back
  • Friendly and very patient instructor, big facility with cutting table and sewing machine room. I made a Kimono from choosing fabric, to cutting out a pattern, to sewing and trimming. I was even introduced to a Serger machine for detailed lining finish. As a novice sewer, I was so impressed and satisfied with what I learned, that I will definitely be back for sewing lab or project work.
  • I absolutely enjoyed Sewing Level 2. Melissa was so patient and helpful, she made the course material extremely easy to digest and easy to follow along. It's a lot of information but super straightforward and fun. A great foundation to start your sewing journey!
  • Haley is very patient and knowledgeable. She went out of her way to give us pointers on setting up our personal sewing machines. I will definitely look into taking another sewing class with her.
  • It was amazing and Haley was great. I can’t wait to take more classes!!!!
  • The instructor is very knowledgeable and makes the class interesting and fun.
  • Our instructor Melissa was truly amazing. So knowledgeable and such a pleasure to learn from. Loved her charisma and her amount of knowledge made the class really valuable. Thank you!
  • This class was so great and the instructor Melissa was wonderful. I’m looking forward to level 2!
  • This is a wonderful sewing class! I learned everything from the type of fabric you are working with to using and working with a sewing machine. I would recommend this class for anyone starting out or anyone who wants to enhance the skills they currently have.
  • Scarlett and Haley were friendly, fun and great teachers.
  • Melissa Walker is such a fantastic teacher. She is incredibly knowledgeable about all things sewing, she's funny, and she made the classes a joy to come to each week.
  • The teacher was very knowledgeable and explained the concepts very clearly. She was patient, funny and told many interesting stories. I think if I bought my own sewing machine I would know how to start using it right away.
  • the course was really useful and well organized. The teacher, Ashley Trutanich, was amazing, both as a professional and a human being. She was very clear in explaining everything and always ready to help us, answering all our questions and showing us things as many times as we needed. The only downside was the duration. 2 hours didn't feel enough, 3 would have been perfect. I shared this thought with the other attendants and they agreed. When we moved to practice what Ashley was teaching us, we found ourselves in a rush. So basically we wanted more ^^
  • Sewing Made Easy was a great class. I have some experience with quilting, yet the class presented and reinforced basic sewing skills like basting, running stitch, and backstitch. I learned new stitches for hemming and mending. So the class strengthened and expanded my basic skills. Ashley was excellent about checking in with us to see where we were in terms of pace and if we needed to see something again. The class supplied sewing machines and I was impressed with how a person could show up and really get a good start--and also make a pillow in two classes! That was amazing. Every student had a lovely finished pillow at the end of the last class. Now I'm working on my own pillow project that is more complicated and Sewing Made Easy serves as a source of inspiration.
  • Introduction to Home Sewing Machine

I took an Introduction to Home Sewing Machine class at CourseHorse. I loved the class and the instructor. The machines were all new and the facility was very clean. Overall, it was such a wonderful experience.
  • Great class. Just the refresher I needed. The instructor was great and met everyone where they were in their sewing journey. Highly recommended whether you are just starting out or just needed a reminder of sewing fundamentals.
  • Introduction to Home Serger Machine

The teacher was very knowledgeable, patient and helpful. This is a very good introductory serger class and highly recommend it.
  • Great Class learned a lot! Highly recommend and I’m coming back
  • Great experience! It was relaxed, informative and fun. I'm going to book another one on one class to finish the garment I started and to learn solid foundation skills.
  • Introduction to Home Serger Machine

Very professional and gave me a lot of detailed information. Instructor was very helpful and hands on. Friendly too. Super happy with what I learned. (:
  • Great class. I learned a lot.
  • This was honestly the BEST class I’ve ever taken. I felt so comfortable the whole time. Amazing vibes, and I’m SO excited for more! Can’t wait for my next class!!!
  • What a pity this class will no longer be offered. Please try to organise more
  • The instructor Jess was great! All the ladies from French General were wonderful. I had a great time!
  • Introduction to Home Serger Machine

This class was exactly what I needed to start using my serger again. It was a great overview on the capabilities of a serger as well as a practical experience with learning how to thread a serger. I would have liked it to include a simple “ make and take” project. However, the two hour class flew by. That’s when I realized I was truly enjoying the class. The next day I started using my serger without any trepidation.
  • I loved learning with Haley and D! The studio is at HaleySolar.com !!! The space is SO CUTE and makes you feel right at home! i will definitely be coming back. This class is great for younger teens to adults. I brought my brand new machine in the box and they helped me set it all up! It's a store ran by Haley. She also sometimes has her dog!
