Reviews for Sewing Machine Classes in Los Angeles

Sewing Machine Classes in Los Angeles are rated 4.8 stars based on 32 verified reviews from actual CourseHorse.com purchasers.

  • Melissa, our instructor at Los Angeles City College (LACC) for this Serger Basics class, covered the basics to get started with a Serger machine. She explained the principle and steps to thread a Serger machine , and maintenance. She explained how a Serger machine is different from a sewing machine. She used a Husqvarna Viking Serger machine and if you're going to participate in this class using a different brand, then I suggest to at least know the steps on how to thread your Serger machine, since there are subtle differences on threading a brand of Serger machine from another. For example, I used a Brother 1034D machine for the class, and the procedure to thread the lower looper on my machine is different from that of her Viking serger machine. It also helps to use different color thread cone for each thread to help you with pinpointing/troubleshoot tensions on your serger stitches. She showed steps on how to troubleshoot common issues with a four thread Serger stitch and how to adjust tensions to remedy it. She showed how to adjust Differential feed to sew stretch fabric. Now I'm ready to take on more advanced Serger courses both online and in-person.
  • I really enjoyed this class. I learned a lot. I learned to make large straight legged pants into fitted bell bottoms. I even fixed 3 pairs of pants at home on my own. Thank you.
  • fun and learned so much
  • Melissa is very knowledgeable, helpful, and personable. The 4 student format was perfect for the subject matter. I hope to take more courses at LACC extension. Cheers, Lex
  • Introduction to Home Sewing Machine

I took an Introduction to Home Sewing Machine class at CourseHorse. I loved the class and the instructor. The machines were all new and the facility was very clean. Overall, it was such a wonderful experience.
  • Matthew is a great teacher - knowledgeable about different sewing machines, very patient and excellent at communicating the “how” and “why” for each step. At the end of the lesson we had made our own very cool tote bags. We actually brought my (teen) daughter’s machine that had been sitting unused on the shelf, and he taught her the lesson on her own machine. She is looking forward to returning regularly to Atomic to work on more projects.
  • This was a fun class I enjoyed every minute of it! It was almost a one on one and I learned the basics of how to thread the machine and the different things the machine can do. I made my first pillow that looked perfect. Instructor was so nice.
  • Friendly, individual help. I learned a lot!
  • Samantha and Amy made me feel comfortable while they shared a good deal of skill, direction and advice. I will absolutely return to Stitch Space LA for classes, advice, and more.
  • Really fun and informative! I was a complete novice to sewing, but the instructor Lauren was very nice & patient with us. After only 2 hours, I feel confident in continuing to practice on my own sewing machine. Thank you!
  • I REALLY enjoyed this class. The instructor was excellent. She took her time and explained everything well and easy to understand. I am really pleased to have taken the class, I now know how to use the machine I purchased.
