Class Description

Description

Before the deep winter sets in, let’s give our favorite shoes a little TLC!

Join bespoke shoemaker and bootmaker Anne Marika Verploegh Chassé of STIEFELwerk for an afternoon of hands-on shoe repair, maintenance, and leather care.

Good shoes are worth taking care of, and knowing how to make a few essential repairs can extend their life for years to come.

In this workshop, we’ll focus on two practical shoe repair techniques:

Heel Toplift Replacement: Learn how to remove and replace worn heel toplifts to restore your heels and prevent further damage.

Front Protective half-sole Rubber Replacement: Learn how to replace or apply protective rubber to the forepart of your soles to help protect against everyday wear.

Along the way, Anne Marika will share her knowledge of leather care, footwear construction, and preventative maintenance to help you keep your favorite shoes looking and performing their best.

Bring Your Own Shoes!

We encourage participants to bring a pair or two of shoes they’d like to work on. We will pick one pair to work on out of a few you may bring.

Please send us photos of your shoes before the workshop so we can confirm they’re suitable for the repairs being taught. Not all shoe constructions are appropriate for these techniques, and we’ll help you determine what can be accomplished during class.

No prior shoe repair or shoemaking experience necessary.

Learn to care for what you already own, repair instead of replace, and give your favorite shoes a longer life!
