Tribeca Clayworks, the first clay studio in Tribeca, has been conducting ceramics classes for the past 20 years. Now housed at the Downtown Community Center, we offer classes for adults and children. Our classes are taught by professional ceramic artists in our fully-equipped ceramics studio. With pottery wheels, slab rollers, clay extruders, electric kilns and lots of space to work, our classes are designed for all levels.
Great new experience!
Class was ok. It was less of a class- in terms of not much teaching, but rather just free time to make something out of clay. The teacher did help us aa bit.
Enjoyed it! Great instructor and would do the class again.
While I think the instructor was very knowledgeable I was disappointed that on our original registration it said till 9:30 and the instructor told us we needed to finish before 9pm Expensive for the amount of time
Clear instructions given by a very helpful teacher. Taylor helped us each reach our goals despite a larger than normal class size of 20 students. Highly recommend this course!
It was fun though I think the firing cost should be included I the cost of the class.
Fun and welcoming environment with a great small class size! We got to do coil pots and/or use molds, tried out stamps & glaze - Tyler did a great job making the class feel very open & playful while guiding us in diff techniques. We ended a little early, I wouldn't have minded getting a little longer to play w/the clay and less time for glaze & kiln payment, but that is a minor point - I absolutely left wanting to go back! Even if you have truly NO experience w/clay this is such a great intro to test the waters. Thank you Tyler & Tribeca Clayworks for a great class!
Really enjoying this class. The instructors are helpful and friendly. I do think it's a sort of loose structure, so that might not be for everyone.
It felt more like having access to a space and tools than an actual class to learn something new. We were told 3 different techniques at the beginning of the class in record speed and then everyone is on their own for the remaining time. There’s no check-in / help / tips throughout the class from the ‘teacher’. Good if you’re well adverse in the topic already and just want to practice but not useful if you actually want to learn the craft.
He was super nice but I guess I would wish for more instruction or information, or even history or background.
