Students will get improvised through a series of fun and engaging activities. Come create, learn and be merry with the Irondale Ensemble! These Irondale led free-for-alls are just thing for the improv wallflowers out there. A no-risk, all-fun environment for everyone from the curious novice to the veteran performer. Oh, and did we mention these are free events?

Kids Theater Playground (Ages 6 - 10)

Kids' theater playground will have students bouncing off the walls with inspiration! There are so many ways to tell a story kids will explore genre, comedic styles, improvisation, movement with Mark Morris Dance Group, mask and puppet making, music, dance, and song. Kids' theater playground will conclude in a variety show of scenes, skits, songs, and storytelling completely inspired by the students.

Kids will enhance their skills in acting by interpreting written stories and fun filled activities. Working from scenes and monologues from writers old and new, our class will work in small ensembles on focused text. Discover different ways to interpret a written story using voice, movement, character work, and creating compelling stage pictures to bring these short stories to life. Junior Company Intensive (Ages 11 - 13)

Students will learn the essentials of theatrical stage craft, including: character development, relationship building, improvisation, acting, movement and space work, design, playwriting, directing, and game play. Each session will culminate in a final project: tailored to the group’s interests and unique dynamics. Open to 6th - 8th grade students 5th grade students by interview

Tell Me About Time

Students will be able to improve their skills in acting through fun filled activities. If you like humming along, bossing your sibling around, laughing till you cry, and playing tag then Tell Me About the Time is for you. We will act, move, draw, dissect (scripts, not bugs – gross), and invent characters to create an ensemble piece.
