Teaches at The Fashion Class

Aliya is an interdisciplinary artist making installations, sculptures, and events that connect people through providing a playful and purposeful place to explore. She loves making up-cycled clothing and jewelry, imaginary-landscape quilts, three-legged stuffed animals, and delicious macrobiotic cookies. She sees teaching and learning about sewing and making her own clothes as a “daily costume” practice: you put something on and brave the world like a magical suit that makes you more courageous and invincible! Aliya graduated from Hampshire College with a BA in Socially Engaged Art. She is currently living in Long Island City, NY and an artist-in-residence at Flux Factory.
