Carolina Iwanow has created the wax addition technique to teach remotely how to design, fabricate and build incredible jewelry without having a jewelry studio. With just a few simple and basic tools you will learn how to make incredible jewelry from wax.
In this 5 class course - Introduction to Wax Addition Technique - Students will learn different techniques: shaping, building, folding, welding, twisting, forming. simple bezel setting by using hand carving tools and a battery welder. Wax is extremely friendly, forgiving & versatile and can be used to make rings, pendants, bracelets, earrings or any other objects and sculptures. Alternative approaches to surface embellishment, embossing, hand textures, etc. Students will learn how to make rings, pendants, studs, hoops, coins, a bezel setting.
Basic Knowledge about the casting process will be covered.
After the pieces are finished in wax it is optional for the student to take them to cast in either sterling silver or brass, etc. I will explain and provide a list of suppliers to also have the castings clean-up and finish. The other option I give the students is that they can book my jewelry making classes for the Art of Metalsmithing by Carolina Iwanow and learn how to work in metal.
The classes are open to beginners as well advanced students.
This course is available for "remote" learning and will be available to anyone with access to an internet device with a microphone (this includes most models of computers, tablets). Classes will take place with a "Live" instructor at the date/times listed below.
Upon registration, the instructor will send along additional information about how to log-on and participate in the class.
