Description

In this 3-session zoom course, you will learn how to use Rhino, to create your heel component! With an option to add-on a pair of printed heels from your files, to use for your next project!

Session 1: Intro to Rhino

  • learn the basics of navigating Rhino, create curves, lines, 2D and 3D shapes, and combine shapes to create more complex items.

Session 2: Designing for Footwear and 3D Printing

  • learn and discuss design considerations for shoes, as well as what designs will be possible with 3D printing. We will also discuss finishing options for the print and best methods for attaching to the upper. Bring sketches of design ideas for session 3!

Session 3: Making a heel and a wedge

  • learn how to use a 3D model last to create a basic heel or wedge. Then workshop your design ideas for the rest of class using the techniques from session one.

Please select a shoe last option out of the 4 provided and your size. If you are interested in using your own lasts for your designs, please reach out for more information on how you can go about getting a 3D scan of your lasts.

  • 208 Last = 10.5cm (4.25”) heel height pointy toe
  • 0929Last = 7cm (2.75”) heel height wtih almond toe
  • Ruby Last = 6cm heel height with square toe
  • Bard last = 3cm heel height with pointy toe

Add ons:

  • A pair of 3D printed heels $120 (colors: black or white)
  • A pair of 3D printed wedges $310 (colors: black or white)

Remote Learning

This course is available for "remote" learning and will be available to anyone with access to an internet device with a microphone (this includes most models of computers, tablets). Classes will take place with a "Live" instructor at the date/times listed below.

Upon registration, the instructor will send along additional information about how to log-on and participate in the class.

Refund Policy

All classes and workshops are non-transferable and non-refundable.

Class Make-up Policy

For multiple-day classes, if you have to miss a day, you are responsible for getting the information that will catch you up on missed information during the class hours. Any additional time you will need to finish the project due to your absence shall be signed-up as a studio-hour session at a $150/day rate.

We take your safety seriously. With COVID-19, circumstances may change quickly, at the last minute. Please communicate with us, if you are traveling from afar. We expect that you will be healthy, and that if you feel sick slightly, you will let us know and we will postpone the course. We will have hand sanitizers, surface wipes, we will wash hands frequently, and each student will have their own tool box to use during the course. Any shared equipment will be cleaned in between use.

In any event where a customer wants to cancel their enrollment and is eligible for a full refund, a 5% processing fee will be deducted from the refund amount.
