Virtual Collaging for All

Please join me in this fun and unique collaging class. You will learn how to use an assortment of different forms (clippings from books, magazines, etc.) to create a new and imaginative piece. I will teach you how to train your eye to recognize which images to combine and how to see a variety of options for using a single image all in an exciting, balanced, and unique way. You will also learn different techniques for gluing and sealing your masterpiece. You may also choose to draw or sketch on your collage as a fun finishing touch!

Because most artists are visual learners, I teach by example so I will teach cutting techniques while cutting and working on a project simultaneously with the students, gluing techniques while gluing, how and when to add different layers by example as well.

Students will learn how to choose images and text for their art, cutting techniques, gluing types and use, layering the project with as assortment of mediums, balance, form, combining colors, adding found objects etc. in a friendly and welcoming environment.

Materials Needed to Fully Participate

• Scissors
• Glue - I like the clear Elmer's glue sticks to position the images and Mod Podge as a top coat
• And something to put the collage on such as cardstock paper, wood panel, cardboard, etc. It can be difficult to get the paper to stick with the glue stick onto canvas so if you are using canvas it's best to attach the images with Mod Podge.

• Fine tip marker to draw details.
• Small squeegee or old credit card
